The Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day: Effects Guru Steve Johnson provides a rare still from the making of BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. The name Steve Johnson should ring a bell for you make-up fiends. He's worked closely with folks like Stan Winston and Rob Bottin to bring you some of your favorite animatronic, creature and makeup work. The man is crowdfunding his book, a tell-all about the heyday of make-up effects from somebody who admittedly has stepped out of the business and doesn't give a shit about stepping on toes.

He's been working on it with fellow make-up effects artist Sandy Collora and they're in their last week. The book will be filled with rare BTS material from his archives, which you'll get a glimpse of in the coming days as we celebrate some of his work.

The Kickstarter goal has already been met, so that means you can officially pre-order it without wondering whether or not it'll actually reach its goal! Pre-order the book below:

The first photo from Johnson's archives is a really rad one of Screaming Mad George working on that damn awesome floating eyeball creature from Big Trouble In Little China. You remember the moment that thing showed up in the movie. It was one of the key signals this traditional looking '80s action movie was kinda fucked in the head in all the best ways. This thing told you the movie you were watching was your kind of crazy.

The below photo is a great look at how they brought that to life as you see it unskinned, with all the mechanisms of the animatronic on full display.

Check it out!

Tomorrow's picture shows off a Hulk-sized creature build. See ya' then!
