‘Which Of You Would You Say Is Learning The Most??’ Herc Loves Tonight’s Almost-Last Episode Of HBO’s THE NIGHT OF!!

I am – Hercules!!

The Night Of 1.7 FAQ

What’s it called?
“Ordinary Death.”

Who’s responsible?
Steven Zaillian directs from a teleplay by Richard Price and Zaillian. Geniuses both.

What says HBO?
“The defense presents its case in the trial of The State v. Nasir Khan.”

How does it start?
“What we have here is the same scenario as Andrea Cornish,” observes Dennis Box. “Would you agree?”

Is it any good?
Yes! Yes!

Do Salim’s taxicab partners go to the cops?
They propose something else.

The big news?
This episode is both funny and a heart-tugger. The bits with Naz’ mom and Stone’s cat are particularly brutal for me.

What else is HBO not telling us?
Chandra Kapoor does something surprising.

What’s good?
The cat. John Turturro as Stone. Jeannie Berlin as Helen Weiss. Bill Camp as Dennis Box. Michael K. Williams as Freddy. Amara Karan as Chandra Kapoor. Peyman Moaadi & Poorna Jagannathan as Salim & Safar Khan. Riz Ahmed as Nasir Khan. “Did I raise an animal?” “Are you happy now?” “Which of you would you say is learning the most?” “I’m going to bed.” “I have no idea who that is.” “Two.” “You think you’re invisible? The Invisible Man?” “Maybe some kind of root or fish oil.” “I don’t want to get rid of my cat.” “Thrilled.” “Is that a joke?”

What’s not so good?
HBO is not making next week’s finale available to the press, which means an extra-long wait for me to find closure with this A-plus crime drama.

How does it end, spoiler boy?
Box glares at his new golf clubs.

9 p.m. Sunday. HBO.
