Did Mace Windu survive Revenge of the Sith? Lucas: "I'm okay with that."

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Samuel L. Jackson has been pretty vocal about his displeasure at being offed in Revenge of the Sith, always following up with some form of "But in my mind he's not dead." We never see a body, that's true, and if Darth Maul can literally be cut in half, tumble down an endless pit and still come back in Star Wars canon in a big way then anything is possible.

Jackson recently appeared on the Entertainment Weekly podcast and added a little bit more to this theory... Apparently George Lucas himself approves of Jackson's theory. Jackson's exact quote: "George is like, 'I’m okay with that. You can be alive.'"

It's worth noting that Lucas' opinion doesn't really count as canon anymore, but we do know that he's still courted for his opinion on new Star Wars every once in a while, so him saying Mace survived his big amputation and fall opens the door for Mace to return in some way to Star Wars canon.

I mean, it's not like Lucas was enthusiastic about it all. The feeling I get from that quote is "Yeah, sure, whatever," but you know how many spin-off books and comics and stories are coming off of this franchise right now, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Mace return in some way in one of those. Probably not the films, but I can almost see the surprise appearance by robot-armed Mace in the Obi-Wan comics.

What do you folks think?
