Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. After the huge success they've seen with Alice In Wonderland, Cinderella, Maleficent and The Jungle Book, I don't think Disney's going to stop pumping out live action adaptations of their classic animated films any time soon.
Next up to see release is Bill Condon's Beauty and the Beast, which is one I'm particularly excited to see. Condon's a great filmmaker to start with and seeing him attack one of the key musical titles from Disney's library gets me doubly excited.
It helps that he has such a great cast in place. Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston (especially after seeing him in High Rise), Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Sir Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Kevin Kline as Maurice and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette are all particularly interesting casting.
Now we've got the first teaser trailer, which I love because it's actually a legit teaser. You see very little, but the little you do see shows the production value is out of this world good. The feeling of the sets, lighting and cinematography all fit the very recognizable world of one of Disney's most beloved animated films. Check it out:
From following the little hints dropped on social media by the actors, there's going to be a lot more singing in this one than there was in The Jungle Book, which is good news. The best parts of Jungle Book, and the ones that got the biggest reactions from both audiences I saw the film with, were the musical scenes.
