Kiefer Sutherland’s “involvement in the new series will be strictly behind the scenes; he won’t be reprising his 24 character of Jack Bauer. Sutherland currently stars in the new ABC drama ‘Designated Survivor,’” writes Deadline Hollywood.

So Fox will be paying Sutherland a salary to stand behind the camera, presumably lending all kinds of advice. And Sutherland will not walk those three or four feet that would place himself in front of the camera.
Twelve episodes of “24 Legacy” starring “Walking Dead” player Corey Hawkins have been ordered, and Fox says the plan is to limit the series to 12 episodes per season in a fashion similar to that utilized by 2014’s “24: Live Another Day” miniseries.

Coto and Katz wrote the pilot script, which was directed by Stephen Hopkins, who will also serve as executive producer on the pilot and series. The original series was created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran.
STAR is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. Lee Daniels (EMPIRE), Tom Donaghy (“The Whole Truth”), Pamela Oas Williams and Effie Brown serve as executive producers. Daniels and Donaghy wrote the pilot script, which was directed by Daniels.
