David Goyer and Damian Kindler ("Kung Fu: The Legend Continues," "Stargate SG-1," "Sleepy Hollow" and Sci-Fi's "Sanctuary") are doing rewrites on the early “Krypton” pilot script by Goyer and Ian Goldberg, but the pilot itself has now been slated for production.
Syfy’s “Krypton” is a prequel to “Smallville,” dealing with the many difficulties vexing Superman’s grandfather on the Man of Steel’s doomed home planet.
Goyer has plenty of Supeman experience, having written the big screen’s “Man of Steel” and co-written “Batman V Superman.”
This is not Goyer’s first stab at creating a TV series tied to a DC Comics character. His “Constantine” received terrible reviews and abysmal ratings; NBC cancelled it after 13 episodes.
If the pilot goes to series it will be a golden age for Superman’s relatives; CBS’ “Supergirl,” which deals with the adventures of his hot blonde cousin, just concluded its first season and is expected to be renewed for a second any day now.
Also back next season are DC Comics’ “Gotham,” “iZombie,” “The Flash,” “Arrow” and “Legends of Tomorrow.”
