Obviously, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 has its title derived from the mix-tape that Star Lord’s listening to at the end of the film, and Peter Quill himself (with the great handle @prattprattpratt) has teased us with a shot of the tape in his preserved, thoroughly functional Sony Walkman. He also seems to be in costume, which is an added plus.
Pratt’s enthusiasm and sense of humor is all over that caption, which reads more like a Star Lord bit than anything any professional A-list actor would conjure up to promote his mega-blockbuster comic book tentpole. Even though the ensemble is what ultimately won over everyone’s hearts, its Pratt’s turn that is (literally) the human center of this world, and one hopes that the fact that the role made him a star won’t diminish his willingness to throw his all into the character. It certainly seems like he’s thoroughly intent on helping make VOL. 2 a worthy follow-up, and I can only assume we’ll be seeing similar levels of charm and humor from the former Andy Dwyer next summer.
It's also been confirmed that comedian Steve Agee will be joining the cast in an undisclosed role, so you SARAH SILVERMAN PROGRAM fans out there should keep an eye out for him when the film drops next summer.
As a bonus, here’s some rehearsal shots James Gunn has posted on his own Instagram this week:
Who else will have their tapes rewound and ready for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOLUME 2 on May 5th, 2017?
