The CW says of “Fast Lane”:
Barry teams up with Wells to find a way to close the breaches, but they are distracted by a meta-human nicknamed Tar Pit who can transform into liquid asphalt. Meanwhile, Iris becomes concerned for Wally's safety when she learns he is drag racing.
Longtime talkbacker Shermdawg recaps last week’s “The Reverse-Flash Returns”:
- Team Flash discover The Turtle, who they had apprehended the episode before had somehow died in his containment cell. Jay immediately points the finger at Wells.
- With the recent news that Jay was dying....Caitlin attempts to track down the Jay Garrick of her world and use his cells to possibly find a cure. Unfortunately, Jay reveals that he's already explored those avenues and his DNA was mutated when he became Earth-2's Flash. His only chance is if they can defeat Zoom and retrieve his powers.
- After Joe informs Iris that Francine doesn't have much time left, she makes peace with her and encourages Wally to visit her before it was too late.
- Wells helps Cisco better control his vibe powers determining it becomes active when adrenaline kicks in. Unfortunately after using those powers one too many times during the presence of the returning Eobard Thawne aka "Reverse-Flash", Cisco goes down with a seizure and eventually begins to phase away BttF style when Team Flash creates a rupture in the timeline by keeping Thawne captive.
- Despite seemingly being erased from existence in last season's finale, Thawne arrives in the present as a remnant of what had previously happened as we learn this particular moment was how he had initially found Barry and met Harrison Wells before traveling further to the past starting the chain events that led to Barry becoming the Flash.
- In order to save Cisco, Barry helps Thawne get back to the future by racing him around the inner core of the particle accelerator and pushes him through the portal that opened.
- Patty finally realized Barry was the Flash after she learns he had been working with S.T.A.R. Labs all this time. With this revelation, she gives him the chance to save their relationship if he would just trust her with his secret. Trust, unfortunately wasn't the issue as Barry denies her claims still fearing her life would be in jeopardy if he let her get too close. This led Patty into making a false alarm call as she left town which exposes him as the Flash. After giving him a slight "drop the act" look, Barry turns off the face blur as she thanks him for coming. "I just wanted to make sure everything was ok" he says. "Don't worry, everything's good." Patty replies, as they exchange smiles. He gives her a nod goodbye and races back to Central City, as she begins her new life and her studies to become a CSI.
