Justin Lin's STAR TREK BEYOND gets the full IMAX treatment with 2016 IMAX theater release!

Hey folks, Scurlock here.

Justin Lin's STAR TREK BEYOND is set to get the full IMAX treatment upon its July 22, 2016 arrival. A press release from Paramount Pictures reads:

"Paramount Pictures, Skydance, Bad Robot and IMAX Corporation today announced that "STAR TREK BEYOND," the third film in the blockbuster franchise, will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive IMAX® format and released in IMAX® theaters worldwide beginning July 22, 2016.

Director Justin Lin says of the release:

“IMAX provides a one-of-a-kind movie going experience to audiences all over the world. I am excited to bring the newest journey into the ‘Star Trek’ universe to its screens.”

This isn't IMAX's first partnership with Paramount and company, as they've done the same for the last two installments of the STAR TREK franchise reboot, understandably being that the current visual styling of STAR TREK is essentially custom made for the IMAX experience.

STAR TREK BEYOND reunites Chris Pine, Simon Pegg (who co-wrote this script with Doug Jung), Jon Cho, Zachary Quinto, Zoë Saldana, Anton Yelchin and Karl Urban as crew of the iconic U.S.S. Enterprise. New two the cast are Idris Elba, KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE's way rad baddie Sofia Boutella and THE RAID REDEMPTION's Joe Taslim, so you know there's gonna be some more than adequate face punching.

Oh, and motherf@#%in' Deep Roy is back! Deep Roy makes the world a better place.

STAR TREK BEYOND arrives in general and all IMAX theaters Jully 22, 2016.
