STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS gets two new TV spots and its first clip!

Hey folks, Scurlock here.

J.J. Abrams and the marketing team behind STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS have done a thus far admirable job of tactically dumping new content on us without actually dumping new content on us. Essentially, they're keeping the J.J. "mystery box" experience mostly intact via slight variations on TV spots, and often positioning us around the same scenes from different perspectives to give the illusion of newness.

I like this.

That's mostly the case here with these brief but entertaining TV spots, the first featuring most of the major players in THE FORCE AWAKENS, in particular more Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and X-Wing crew doing X-wing things, a pretty rad Finn (John Boyega) lightsaber throwdown with a baton-wielding stormtrooper, and both Finn and Rey (Daisy Ridley) taking pilot/gunner duty aboard the Millennium Falcon. The second, not so actiony TV spot definitely focuses more on bringing these characters together as a team. Check 'em out below:

They're both fun stuff, but I dig the vibe of the second. The original trilogy was heavy on the family dynamic, something the prequels were starving for, and it appears at least from these small hints that Abrams may be bringing that home again.

And finally, we have a massive fifteen second clip of Rey and Finn hauling ass across the sands of Jakku saying stuff to each other:

We're twenty four days out from THE FORCE AWAKENS, and I'm fairly certain we've not reached peak Star Wars on the marketing front just yet. Here's hoping they keep the reveals limited, and firmly in harmlessly teasing territory.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS arrives in theaters December 18.
