Last spring Joel McHale was the star of two TV shows, and very soon he will be the star of none.
The last episode of E! channel staple “The Soup” will air its final episode Dec. 18.
If one counts the show’s chat-show focused predecessor “Talk Soup” (different hosts, different title, slightly different subject matter), which launched way back in 1991, I guess one could argue the series ran 22 years. But there were no “Talk Soup” or “The Soup” episodes in 2003, so it’s a grey area. I guess E! could launch a similar show in a year and say that’s the same show too, so maybe this isn’t really the end?
The series finale of the sitcom “Community,” which also starred McHale, hit Yahoo! on June 2.
McHale will have a major recurring role in the six-episode revival of “The X-Files,” which begins airing on Fox in January.
