Jon Voight is a FANTASTIC BEAST!

The first American Academy Award-winner to join the HARRY POTTER franchise will be Jon Voight.

The actor, who won his statue for COMING HOME, has signed on for an unspecified role in FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM alongside HUMANS’ Gemma Chan and SELMA’s Carmen Ejogo.

Voight recently won a Golden Globe and was nominated for another as well as an Emmy for his role as RAY DONOVAN’s father, so his career is currently on an upswing. Maybe it’s due to his reputation as a conservative, but I don’t think he quite gets the respect he deserves in the industry; when you have performances like his in MIDNIGHT EXPRESS, RUNAWAY TRAIN, and COMING HOME under your belt, not to mention his vast repertoire of great supporting turns (including the one above), I reckon you deserve to be talked about like one of the boys, don’t you think?

Regardless of who he plays, I’m sure Voight will be a welcome addition to the Potter-verse and may add some clout to this thing. Let’s just hope he tones it down a notch from the BABY GENIUS sequels…

FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM finds you on November 18th, 2016.
