Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Remember those rumors about Benicio del Toro being courted to play a villain (if not THE villain) in Rian Johnson's Star Wars Episode 8? Looks like it's pretty solid.
Starwars7News.com tracked down an interview Benicio del Toro did in Spain to promote A Perfect Day in which del Toro says he'll be doing Star Wars, possibly shooting around March of next year (I've heard filming begins earlier, but who knows if they've shifted schedules or not).
When pressed on what his character would be, del Toro at first says that they don't like him talking about it, but that "I'm, like, the villain."
He did throw in a "we'll see" in there, but if he's talking that definitively then it's gotta be pretty close.
All I know for sure is that Rian Johnson's doing a Star Wars movie and knowing his understanding of character and his filmic sensibilities that makes me more excited than just about anything else.
Plus now I can campaign for Benicio to recreate some Fear and Loathing scenes in character. "We can't stop here! This is Mynock country!"
