Cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema broke out with LET THE RIGHT ONE IN, and has followed that up with strikingly-shot films such as TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY, HER, and INTERSTELLAR (he was also hired to succeed Roger Deakins’ Oscar-nominated work on SKYFALL for SPECTRE). A rumor has surfaced regarding his next potential gig: WONDER WOMAN.
The rumor, which began on the series Meet The Movie Press and was picked up by outlets including SlashFilm, is that Hoytema will shoot Patty Jenkins’ WONDER WOMAN when it gets going in Europe this fall.
Another rumor that keeps persisting is that WW will be an origin story that takes place during World War I. They’re allegedly planning to shoot in London and Basilicata, Italy.
Hoytema’s got an impressive visual palette, and INTERSTELLAR and HER had a particular sheen that seems signature to this particular lenser. If they’re going EPIC and PERIOD for WONDER WOMAN, having someone with a brazen, confident style behind the camera can only be an asset.
As they mention in the MTMP ep, expect to hear a lot more about this project within the next couple of months as it gets ready to go.
