Before we get too excited, Sandor Clegane can tell you there are loads of people who are dead on the HBO series that are not dead in the books.
In the books, we “learn” Stannis is “dead” via a note Ramsay Bolton sent to Jon Snow.
The show and the books have diverged on quite a number of points. For example, in the show Ramsay marries Sansa. In the books Ramsay marries a girl pretending to be Arya.
I just hope Thoros uses his fancy red magic to resurrect Tywin Lannister.
