Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. After all this time Iron Giant seems to finally be getting the love and attention it deserves. Not from the hardcore fans. We've always been here and have only grown in numbers since it came out. No, I'm talking about the studio. They buried it upon release and pretty much ignored it since, but now that folks like Mondo are constantly selling out posters and toys based on this property they're starting to re-evaluate it.
While this is hardly the Superman-scale re-release the film deserves, it's still wonderful that we'll get the chance to see this film remastered and on the big screen. Fathom Events is handling it and while that's usually not something to be excited about, word is they've been trying to clean up their act a bit since the awful days of running DVDs instead of DCPs or prints.
Their handling of Jaws was pretty decent, so I have hopes they give Iron Giant similar treatment, especially since we're getting a couple new scenes added in.
In celebration of this mini-rerelease we've got a new trailer. Give it a gander, remember why you love this movie so much and maybe grab a kleenex or two...
