Hey folks, Harry here... I love that Mads Mikkelsen is all the rage these days - us movie geeks have been tracking him since we noticed him in Refn's PUSHER way back in 1997. Feels like the rest of the world started to jump on the band wagon once he began crying bloody tears in CASINO ROYALE - which was fairly wonderful! But - as a fan of HANNIBAL on TV, I have to say Mads has really flourished upon that show. He's just fascinating to watch!
So when Variety says he's negotiating to play an unnamed villain in DOCTOR STRANGE - it just starts the mind cranking. First of, we don't know who the villain of DOCTOR STRANGE is yet. The Doc's big baddie in the comics has consistently been DORMAMMU... and given that in the first THOR, we got LOKI. The first CAPTAIN AMERICA, we got RED SKULL. It would make sense to give us DORMAMMU in DOCTOR STRANGE.
Though Mads' mad cheekbones scream MEPHISTO - Marvel's aweseome take on Satan in the Marvel Universe... He'd also be a great NIGHTMARE or BLACKHEART or DRACULA or PLUTO.
So - Where do you think this casting will go? Personally, I'd pull for DORMAMMU or MEPHISTO - Of course it'd be fun if it's MEPHISTO - and his problems spill into THOR RAGNAROK... I'm just saying.
