Maybe they should retitle it “The Flashes”?
Long-established (in print) Flashes Jay Garrick and Wally West will be joining Barry Allen on “The Flash” this coming season, and now comes word that yet another longtime DC Comics speed-hero, Jesse Quick, will be joining the series.
Though Quick (real name Jesse Chambers) briefly became The Flash in a 1995 storyline (with the blessing of Barry Allen’s Flash successor Wally West), she’s had a long history as a speedy superhero apart from the Flash legacy.
A second-generation superhero, the comic-book version of Jesse Quick gets her powers from her superspeedy superhero parents, Johnny Chambers (aka Johnny Quick, introduced in 1941’s More Fun Comics #71) and Libby Lawrence (aka Liberty Belle, introduced in 1942’s Boy Commandos #1).
Introduced in 1992’s Justice Society of America #1, Jesse Quick inherited superspeed from her dad and superstrength from her mother.
In 1996 Jesse Chambers abandoned her Jesse Quick identity and began calling herself Liberty Belle in tribute to her superhero mom.
Violett Beane, who will play Jesse, is a bona fide newcomer. Her first two movies, “Flay” and “Slash” are due in cinemas later this year.
