The CW Has Found Its Hawkman!!

I am – Hercules!!

Actor Falk Hentschel, who looks good shirtless, will play DC Comics icon Carter “Hawkman” Hall in three CW series, “The Flash,” “Arrow,” and midseason newcomer “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.”

Hall is not to be confused with Katar Hol, DC’s interstellar cop/museum curator from the planet Thanagar, who was introduced in 1961’s The Brave and the Bold #34.

Carter Hall is an older version of Hawkman introduced in 1940’s Flash Comics #1, the same issue that introduced the first Flash, Jay Garrick. (Garrick is also joining the CW’s DCTV universe in the coming season.)

In the comics, Hall is an archaeologist whose encounter with an ancient knife causes him to learn he is the reincarnation of the ancient Egyptian prince Khufu. The print version of Hall uses gravity-defying “Nth metal” to fly.

The CW version of Hawkman, like the CW version of Hawkgirl, can transform into a winged human by accessing the powers of Horus, The Egyptian Hawk God. (Hawkgirl, played by Ciara Renee, will also be introduced to the DC/CW shows this season.)

Hentschel played a recurring character on seven episodes of last summer’s sexy-lawyer CBS hourlong “Reckless.” Last October he played Marcus Scarlotti in an episode of “Agents of SHIELD.”
