This guy's following in the footsteps of Gozer the Gozerian and Vigo The Carpathian!

Just yesterday, we learned that Andy Garcia, Michael K. Williams, and Matt Walsh would be joining Wiig, McCarthy, & Co. on GHOSTBUSTERS, and now today, we have our villain.

Writer/comedian Neil Casey will be following in the footsteps of Slavitza Jovan (Gozer) and Wilhelm von Homburg (Vigo) as the FeigBUSTERS’ nemesis, named Rowan. No word on the specifics of his nefarious plot/intentions, other that we can safely assume he either is or is associated with a spectral being(s).

Casey wrote on the 2012-2013 season of SNL, while Kate McKinnon and Cecily Strong were cast members, and during which both Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy hosted, so he knows the cast (although Leslie Jones hadn’t been brought on yet). Could they have helped him book this high-profile gig?

His acting career is less prolific than his writing credits (though he has made appearances on both INSIDE AMY SCHUMER and THE KROLL SHOW, both of which he’s also written for), but he has a great, somewhat otherworldly look (he almost looks better suited for MIB than GB) and presumably the confidence of the funny, experienced women in the cast. If you recall, neither Gozer or Vigo had all that much screentime in either of the original GBs, and they were played fairly straight and villainous in their short scenes. However, if they’re hiring him for something along the lines of Moranis’ Keymaster or Peter MacNicol’s excellently manic Janosz (perhaps the best evidence of that sequel’s worthiness), then Casey could have a buncha screentime to flex his comedic muscles for a much bigger audience than has ever seen him before.

Remember when they wanted Paul Rubens to play Gozer? That woulda been some crazy shit, eh?
