Kudos to my Collider co-creator Steve "Frosty" Weintraub for teasing a scoop out of notoriously tricksy Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige! In an interview over the weekend at the ANT-MAN press day, Frosty got to acknowledge that GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 begins shooting February or March 2016. How do we feel about that title? It's a fun reference to Star Lord's mixtape, and... that's it! But I like it if only for the way it reinforces writer-director James Gunn's authorial ownership of this particular franchise.
Speaking of Gunn, he had more to say on the matter via his Facebook page. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 hits theaters on May 5th, 2017.
