The AICN Dedicated Talkback Roars On Down FURY ROAD!!

MAD MAX FURY ROAD

AICN used to open Talkbacks dedicated specifically to reader reaction to a huge new genre title - AVATAR, JJ’s STAR TREK, TRON LEGACY, DISTRICT 9, G.I. JOE, WATCHMEN, and more.  For a number of reasons, this practice waned.  But, given this weekend’s arrival of MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, we’re wondering if this might not be a good time to revisit the notion…

As such, the Talkback herein is reserved chiefly for your perspective on George Miller’s latest post-apocalypse opus.  Do you like it?  Love it?  Did you dislike it?  Did you hate it?  Are you merely ambivalent about it, or it is the ‘classic’ many folks feel it is?  Did you enjoy Tom Hardy’s Max, which felt to me to skew a little closer to Harrison Ford’s beleaguered, ‘WTF!?’ Indiana Jones mode than Gibson’s more stoic take?  What was up with his voice/accent in the film?  Is this one of the best action movies ever made, or merely rehash on steroids?  Exactly how much ass did Charlize kick? Will the critical reception this film is receiving serve as a manifesto against Hollywood’s very real tendencies toward ageism (its helmer is now 70)?  Or, will we be back to business as usual in a few weeks?  Will MMFR rattle the way subsequent action movies are conceived and executed?  Or, will the industry maintain a safer, less visionary, lower-risk course?  If there is more MAX in our future, what kind of picture would you like to see?  I always thought WHITELINE NIGHTMARE (from the opening narration of ROAD WARRIOR) would make a pretty fun MAD MAX title.

All of the questions above are just random musings re: what might be discussed herein. Tell us where you stand on this one.  Share your thoughts with fellow Talkbackers, and the world.

Above all, have fun!
