Deadline has a post-finale interview with “Gotham” mastermind Bruno Heller in which the showrunner seems to indicate that The Joker will arrive very early in season two.
“ … there will be a very big villain arriving in Season 2, one who doesn’t want to run Gotham, but destroy it,” Heller, who also served as HBO’s “Rome” showrunner, tells Deadline.
In the Feb. 16 episode that also introduced Dick "Robin" Grayson’s circus family to “Gotham,” a murderous teen named Jerome exhibited a Joker-ish laugh and grin.
“There’s so much revealed in the first three episodes,” Heller explains. “Jerome contains the DNA of The Joker, but if he isn’t him then how does someone else appear to be the Joker? How does The Joker’s identity transfer into somebody else’s body?”
Another question: Can one kill a fish by tossing it into the sea? Heller says he’s not ruling out the return of Jada Pinkett Smith’s purring mobster Fish Mooney, but makes pretty clear that if she does return, she won’t stick around long.
