Gotham 1.20 FAQ

What’s it called?
“Under The Knife.”

Who’s responsible?
Teleplay is credited to John Stephens (“Gilmore Girls,” “The OC,” “Gossip Girl”).

What says Fox?
“Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Bullock (Donal Logue) continue to investigate the Ogre (guest star Milo Ventimiglia), who begins to make his move on someone close to Gordon. Meanwhile, Bruce (David Mazouz) and Selina (Camren Bicondova) team up to expose a corrupt Wayne Enterprises employee and Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) comes to Kristin Kringle’s (guest star Chelsea Spack) defense.”

How does it start?
“Hey! You look far from home!” A common street thug prepares to menace Young Master Bruce.

Does Nygma frame Kristin Kringle so he can effect her rescue?
Nygma’s not defending Kringle from an accusation. He mounts a different kind of defense.

The Ogre goes after former Gordon roommate Barbara Kean?
He’s sharing cocktails with her before the first commercial break.

I don’t suppose Fish bleeds to death after taking that bullet last week?
Maria Mercedes Mooney is wholly absent this week.

Why doesn’t Loeb suspend Gordon for wrinkling his jacket?
Loeb has engineered something much worse than suspension.

So Bruce finds Selena so alluring he’s willing to overlook her status as murderess?
Bruce asks Alfred about the people he killed while serving in the special forces. Even if Batman may not like killing people, it turns out his butler understood the necessity.

Why didn’t deep-pocket Wayne Enterprises pay Alfred’s war buddy more -- so he wouldn’t have to ingest his “medicine” in an abandoned warehouse? Wouldn’t it have been smarter to kill him, or at least fly him to Indonesia or something?
They probably figured there’d be an overdose long before Bruce began any kind of ascent to World’s Greatest Detective. But Wayne Enterprises has again vastly underestimated Young Master Bruce.

Now that Barbara’s back in the picture, does Morena Baccarin’s character die this week?
Early in the episode, a naked Dr. Leslie Thompkins is startled by the sound of breaking glass in her apartment.

I gather Ms. Mullens, Bullock’s water-fearing object of desire, no longer lurks about?
The writers would appear to have lost interest in Bullock’s love life.

What’s doing with Butch, Zsasz and Penguin?
No Zsasz this week, but Butch has more bad news for his new boss. Maroni’s encounter with Mrs. Kapelput, meanwhile, does nothing to diminish The Penguin’s rage.

Any sign of Crispis Allen, Renee Montoya, Harvey Dent or Ivy Pepper this week?
None.

The big news?
Barbara’s lesbitastic leers at Selina and Selina’s harsh words for Barbara did not stop the duo from maintaining their status as roommates!

Huh! But Ivy’s cleared out?
Maybe?

What else is Fox not telling us?
Bruce buys gold pumps for Catgirl.

What else else is Fox not telling us?
Barbara meets a major character for the first time. And one key aspect of Nygma’s history is confirmed.

What’s good?
Sal’s sitdown with Gertrude. Alfred’s attitude toward life-taking, and his remark regarding Selina’s wardrobe. The reason the mother fled. The Riddler’s lack of halfassedness. “When did you realize that you had given birth to a monster?”

What’s not so good?
It’d be better if the cop called Nygma “Riddle Boy” instead of “Riddle Man.”

How does it end, spoiler boy?
“See for yourself,” invites 50 Shades Of Petrelli.

8 p.m. Monday. Fox.
