Pixar’s Jim Morris Says TOY STORY 4 Is…

TOY STROY cast

Via Disney Latino and shared, translated, and contextualized by /Film, comes our first substantive hint of what we can expect from the next TOY STORY theatrical outing.

Speaking with Disney Latino, Pixar President Jim Morris indicates that the fourth installment won’t be a direct sequel to the first three entries, which are evidently being viewed as something of a standalone group of pictures.

It is a separate story, which in turn I do not know if will be continued

[EDIT]

It is not a continuation of the end of the story of Toy Story 3. Temporarily it is, but it will be a love story. It will be a romantic comedy. It will not put much focus on the interaction between the characters and children.

…says Morris HERE.

In the article, Morris also asserts that TOY STORY 4 isn’t being generated as a money grab, but instead springs from having an idea which is irresistible, and that filmmakers feel passionately about.  Which is reassuring, to say the least.

I wasn’t knocked out by TOY STORY OF TERROR (nor did I dislike it), but had a great deal of fun with the more recent TOY STORY THAT TIME FORGOT (its action figures are pretty fun, too).  Both, however, proved nicely that there’s still room to expand upon and further explore the TOY STORY universe, so June 2017 (the release date of picture #4) can’t get here quickly enough…
