Ridley Scott and Peter Chernin (EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS, DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, OBLIVION) are looking to adapt George MacDonald Fraser’s ‘Flashman’ character for the big screen, as a 20th Century Fox undertaking.

The Flashman character appeared in a dozen of Fraser’s novels and was portrayed by Malcolm McDowell in the 1975 film “Royal Flash.” The character is an antihero who often runs from danger but usually winds up being acclaimed as a hero.

describes Variety HERE.

In addition to bering an accomplished novelist,  Fraser scripted that 1975 Flashman adaptation, also wrote the James Bond OCTOPUSSY movie, and RED SONJA ‘Arnold Schwarzenegger is Lord Kalidor!’

So, yeah…

No word on who’ll tackle scripting duties on the new Flashman film (Fraser passed in 2008), but presumably we’ll find out soon.
