Leno is gone, Colbert quit his “Report,” Letterman ditches CBS in May, and now Jon Stewart is quitting “The Daily Show” for good after 17 years, Stewart announced at the end of Tuesday’s episode.
Stewart seemed to suggest he could finish up as early as July and as late as December. His contract with Comedy Central is up for renewal in September.
No replacement has yet been announced but I suspect Craig Kilborn might be available.
I’m personally rooting for Norm Macdonald.
Stewart, whose feature directorial debut “Rosewater” hit Blu-ray Tuesday, blamed restlessness and a perhaps a longing to spend more time with his family.
