What the &#$% is ZOMBIES & SHARKS?

Greetings, all. It’s Ambush Bug with some low budget, home video, and independent horror news—bite size, just how you zombies like it!

Rub-a-dub-dub, there’s a creepy monster in the tub in this pic from JESSABELLE!

Check out this wicked pic from the upcoming film JESSABELLE which may or may not be connected to the TWILIGHT ZONE episode of the same name. Here’s the synopsis;

Returning to her childhood home in Louisiana to recuperate from a horrific car accident, Jessabelle (Sarah Snook of SLEEPING BEAUTY) comes face to face with a long-tormented spirit that has been seeking her return -- and has no intention of letting her escape.

The full trailer is going to be released on Yahoo Movies tomorrow. Find out more on the JESSABELLE Facebook page. Plus I’m not sure what Snapchat is (something the kids are using these days, I guess) so I’ll quote what else you can do to stay connected with recent developments on JESSABELLE;

THAT'S NOT ALL! Keep up with everything JESSABELLE by adding JESSABELLE1988 to your Snapchat! Get exclusive sneak peeks, messages from filmmakers, and opportunities surrounding the film’s release ONLY by following JESSABELLE1988. Don't miss a single, terrifying moment from JESSABELLE!

So, yeah, there’s that. The image definitely looks creepy though and I’m looking forward to checking this one out when it gets a major theatrical release this August 29th!

Easter isn’t over yet with this clip from EASTER SUNDAY!

Directed by Jeremy Todd Morehead and starring horror legends Robert Z’Dar and Ari Lehman, EASTER SUNDAY follows a group of teens who accidentally conjure the spirit of Douglas Fisher, a deranged, bunny mask-clad serial killer.

Find out more about this film here and check out the first 6 minutes of the film below!

And here’s the teaser trailer for EASTER SUNDAY (coming soon)!

WOLFCOP figure is furry…I mean, fully posable!

I had a chance to interview Lowell Dean, the creator/director/writer of the new horror comedy WOLFCOP hot off the heels of the trailer for the film winning the CineCoup competition last year. I premiered the poster for the film by Tom “The Dude” Hodge a while back and this week, we’ve got some news of a sweet WOLFCOP figure depicting Wolfcop in all of his furry glory!

Check out the trailer for the Indiegogo campaign for the WOLFCOP figure below. Find out more about WOLFCOP on it’s website here and check it out when it hits theaters on June 6th!

Check out this poster, you ANIMAL!

From director Bret Simmons (director of the excellent scarecrow horror film HUSK—reviewed here) and writer Thommy Hutson (NEVER SLEEP AGAIN—who I just interviewed yesterday here) comes ANIMAL, a new film produced by Drew Barrymore and starring Eve, Keke Palmer, Amaury Nolasco, Parker Young, Joey Lauren Adams, Elizabeth Gillies, Paul Iacono, Thorsten Kaye, and Jeremy Sumpter.

EW premiered the photo of the poster and the first trailer, which you can see by clicking here. The film is simply described as “a group of friends being pursued by a blood-thirsty predator.”

ANIMAL is having a select theater run and On Demand release on June 17 and then premiere’s on Chiller soon after!

In Chicago? Check out indie horror CHRYSALIS tonight!

If you’re in the mood for indie horror and in the Chicago area tonight, I recommend you head on over to the Logan Theater to check out the premiere to CHRYSALIS, a new survival horror film from director John Klein and writer Ben Kurstin. I had a chance to talk with the filmmakers last year at Fantastic Fest when this film was being completed and I can’t wait to check out the premiere tonight at 7:30pm. And you can check it out too as tonight’s premiere is open to the public!

Get tickets to the premiere of CHRYSALIS here! I’ll be reviewing the film in this week’s AICN HORROR column. Not to worry to those outside of Chicago, the film will be premiering on VHX and Vimeo on Demand tomorrow!

See you tonight at the show! Check out the trailer for CHRYSALIS below!
