Howdy do, everyone, Papa Vinyard here.
They've found their Hannigan! Deadline reports that Cameron Diaz is set to play Miss Hannigan in the upcoming ANNIE remake after negotiations with Sandra Bullock fell through. Producers Will Smith and Jay-Z, as well as director Will Gluck, were looking for an international star to fulfill the role of the aggressive matriarch of Annie's orphanage, and it looks like they found one. While Diaz doesn't have the critical validation of the Academy Award-winning Bullock, she can be quite funny when given the opportunity, and, as proven by her recent BAD TEACHER, audiences are definitely open to her getting a little nasty. She looks like she's having a great time vamping it up in Ridley Scott's upcoming THE COUNSELOR, so I guess playing up her dastardly side is quickly becoming part of her persona. She joins Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhane Wallis in the musical update, and she should have a great deal of fun chewing the scenery while chewing the titular 9 year-old's ass out.
ANNIE escapes her hard-knock life sometime around Christmas 2014.
