Anna Kendrick to play Cinderella in Rob Marshall's adaptation of the Broadway hit, INTO THE WOODS!!

Hey Yo! Draven here.

Live action fairytale adaptations are becoming almost as popular as comic book adaptations in Hollywood. Today we got word via THR, that up and coming star, Anna Kendrick has signed on to portray Cinderella in Rob Marshall’s adaptation of the Broadway play, INTO THE WOODS.

The play is a comic musical that premiered on Broadway in 1987. It takes pieces from various fairytales including Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel. All of the stories are tied together with a story that involves a baker and his wife trying to start a family in spite of a witch that has a curse on them. It has been hugely successful, with several Tony awards and multiple runs all over the world.

As stated above, Rob Marshall (CHICAGO, MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA, NINE, PIRATES 4) will be directing. Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Chris Pine, and Jake Gyllenhaal are all apart of this star studded cast and now we can add Anna Kendrick to that list.

Anna Kendrick seems to be on the cusp of super-stardom after her role in last year’s surprise hit, PITCH PERFECT, not to mention UP IN THE AIR and THE TWILIGHT SAGA. She has also been performing on Broadway since she was a kid, and proved that she has the pipes for a musical with PITCH PERFECT. This role seems tailor made for her, and this movie could be big when it hits in 2014. I have never been a big Rob Marshall fan but with this cast, this should be solid, (although the same was said about NINE and that turned out to be complete shit).
