Bad Robot To Take On A Lance Armstrong Movie!!

This slid under the radar over the weekend, but it's still more than worthy of discussion herein.  Per THIS piece at Deadline...

Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot partners JJ Abrams and Bryan Burk are going to make a movie about the epic rise and fall of doping bicyclist Lance Armstrong. They’ve just closed a deal for screen rights to Cycle Of Lies: The Fall Of Lance Armstrong, a proposal for a book that will be written by Juliet Macur for HarperCollins.

If the project works out, I'm very interested to see how critical the picture will be.  There's certainly an objectivity to be found...an exploration of what  would drive someone towards the aggressive deception Armstrong perpetrated over the years...but there's almost no way the movie's lead would come out looking sympathetic, or even likable.  At the end of the day, the movie would inevitably be about a man who callously stole the dreams and opportunities of others...and accepted rampant idolization based on falsehoods.  A nihilistic subject matter for an industry which frequently plays it a bit too safe.
