Best of QT Fest Schedule has been revealed!!!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here! I got some sweet info for you Austin film geeks or those who desire to watch flicks with Quentin Tarantino.

The Best of QT Fest starts at the end of the month and runs for 7 nights. The dates are April 24-30 and the location is the classic Alamo Drafthouse Downtown.

Badges for the event go on sale via phone at the Austin Film Society (512-322-0145) tomorrow morning 8am CST. They run you $145 a piece (limit 2). There are tickets for individual shows, but honestly... I wouldn't count on being able to buy single show tickets. For the last 2 or 3 QT fests, badges have sold the place out. You also need to be a member of the AFS to buy your badges, by the way, but that'll only run you $20 for a year's membership.

Alright, all the specifics are out there. Now, thanks to a tipoff from Rav I find that the Alamo's website has the listing of each night of the Best of QT Fests, with the exception of the Rolling Roadshow night (the 25th). Here's the rundown!

MONDAY, APRIL 24TH

Kiss The Girls And Make Them Die
Snake In The Monkey's Shadow

From Europe to Asia this night. Even though the wonderfully titled KISS THE GIRLS AND MAKE THEM DIE is set in Brazil during Carnival, it's an Italian produced flick (produced by-a the King-a, Dino De Laurentiis) from the '60s that is a ton of fun. SNAKE IN THE MONKEY'S SHADOW is a fucking awesome chop socky flick that features the best of the best of animal kung fu.

TUESDAY, APRIL 25TH

Rolling Road Show day. The films shown this night, somewhere in the Texas Night, are still a mystery.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 26TH

Wipeout
Brotherhood of Death

Now we see one from Italian Crime's crown prince Fernando DiLeo, possibly the best of the what? Half dozen DiLeo flicks Tarantino has shown since the very first QT fest 10 years ago. Henry Silva is the epitome of badass in this flick. I can't wait to watch it on the big screen again. The second feature this night is BROTHERHOOD OF DEATH, a '70s blaxploitation flick starring a bunch of football stars (Roy Jefferson, Mike Bass, Mike Thomas, etc) as Vietnam vets who end up whooping up on the Ku Klux Klan. This one was a ton of fun! This'll be one of the audience favorites.

THURSDAY, APRIL 27TH

Junior Bonner
Saint Jack

Sam Peckinpah's rodeo flick starring Steve McQueen and Peter Bogdanovich's Singapore pimp flick starring Ben Gazzara. Great double feature for two very underseen movies from two well known directors.

FRIDAY, APRIL 28TH

Billy Jack
Vanishing Point
Rolling Thunder

Everyone should know BILLY JACK, but of these three flicks ROLLING THUNDER is the mack daddy. Tommy Lee Jones has never been more badass and William Devane is just the man. VANISHING POINT has Cleavon Little as a blind DJ named Super Soul who's helping our hero race to San Francisco.

SATURDAY, APRIL 29TH

All-Nite Horror Marathon!

Blood Splattered Bride
Twisted Nerve
Don't Go In The House
Police Women
Hell Night
Legend of Wolf Woman

The Legend of Wolf Woman is a QT Fest classic. Screaming, '70s European naked woman... Trippy. TWISTED NERVE is the home of that catchy tune Daryl Hannah whistles in KILL BILL. Good flick. Don't Go In The House is just fucked up. Police Women... horror night? Que? Hell Night, Linda Blair '80s cheesefest that has some genuine creepy moments. Blood Splattered Bride is my least favorite flick that appears in the Best of QT Fest. Didn't really dig on this one, but I'm curious to see it again.

SUNDAY, APRIL 30TH

Pretty Maids All In A Row
Girl From Starship Venus

Okay, get this... Pretty Maids All In A Row is a sexploitation flick... Starring Johnny Carson's son, Telly Savalas, Scotty (yes, that Scotty), Angie Dickinson, Rock Hudson and Roddy McDowell... and is directed by Roger Vadim (BARBARELLA). The weirdest thing is that it was written by Gene Roddenberry. It's a really off-kilter sex comedy... that for some reason centers on a series of murders on a school campus. This is one of my all time favorite Tarantino Fest flicks, one not available on DVD... maybe not even VHS... I'm itching to see it again.

Girl From Starship Venus is a sexploitation flick that is just bizarre and fucking hilarious.

There you go. all the flicks, minus the Roadshow. I really hope Gravy Train pops up there. That's my number one favorite, especially when seeing it with a packed house. I'll be a very sad panda if Gravy Train (alias Dion Brothers) isn't on the schedule.

Hope to see many of you at the fest later this month!
