Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here.
Even though I’ve been seeing films as part of the AFI fest all week, there are some other titles playing now in limited and wide release that are well worth discussing, and even though they don’t really have anything in common (indie horror, mainstream comedy, heartwrenching documentary), I want to make sure all three of them get some attention.

Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here. I've got a couple of reviews for you of my two favorite wide releases this week--one for each of your moods (because I'm assuming you only have two).

Never mind the mainstream-skewing trailers and TV spots: ROLE MODELS is unmistakably a David Wain film. Though far more conventional in concept and execution than anything he's done before, it's still got enough sweetness and vulgarity and STATE alums to remind you that you're watching a movie from the guy who did WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER. And since WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER is one of the best comedies of this decade, that's a very good thing.

Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here, with the list of the lucky winners who get to spend some quality time with Mr. Paul Rudd at a screening of his latest film, ROLE MODELS. Those of you who won the "Why I'd Be a Terrible Role Model" contest should have received an email from me by now with the details of this event. If your name is on this list, and you did not receive an email, let me know right away.

It wasn’t that long ago that I had very little interest in seeing a movie called ROLE MODELS. It seemed from the first trailer to be a saccharine sweet buddy film about grown children that learn to become MEN. And that stuff, like saccharine… gives ya cancer. I’m serious. If you just watch films about juvenile young men putting their childish sides aside… you will develop EYE CANCER.

Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here.
I know I said that SEX DRIVE was going to be the last Ain't It Cool screening in Chicago for a couple of weeks on account of the Chicago Film Festival taking over my life for a couple weeks, but I was floated on offer by the good folks at Universal that I just couldn't say no to. The potential for fun was just too spectacular.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I laughed at the regular trailer for the upcoming Sean William Scott and Paul Rudd vehicle ROLE MODELS thanks mainly to the kid who immediately tells Sean William Scott "I don't want to take my pants off!" when he sits down to meet him.
It looked a little standard, but it was a good sign that a vulgar comedy could make me laugh in a sub-2 minute G-rated collage of clips.

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
Bungion Boy’s one of our longtime contributors from New York, current reigning king of the East Coast test screening. David Wain’s WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER has picked up a lot of fans since its premiere in 2001, and I’m curious to see this one ASAP:

Now that Universal has reassured us that David Wain's ROLE MODELS (starring Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott) will hit theaters as a very profane R-rated comedy, let's check out this test screening review from "The Movie Jerk". He doesn't seem too blown away by the plot, but, as most of you know by now, it's the joke hit-to-miss ratio that really matters in films like this.
How does ROLE MODELS fare in that department? Read on, junior...

Beaks here...
Universal has informed me that ROLE MODELS is an R-rated comedy. I also received a very positive test screening review, but it was a little too light on detail for my liking. If I get something more substantial, I'll gladly run it. Sounds like the movie is coming together.
