Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here.
It’s been a rough summer for documentaries at the box-office, but a few films have managed to break through and at least create a bit of buzz. It may not have translated into giant DARK KNIGHT style business, but at least they’ve made some impression. And in one case, I’d say one of the very best films of the year deserves more attention than it’s gotten so far, and I hope the film finds a second wind as it continues to roll out in theaters around the country.

Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here. I haven't even been back 24 hours from Comic-Con, and I'm already planning a bunch of cool stuff in the coming weeks for those of you in the Chicago area. Tonight we've got our post-screening Q&A with Steve Coogan after a showing of HAMLET 2. And tomorow, we've got the five stars of the summer's best documentary, AMERICAN TEEN.

Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here.
I haven’t had a chance to see AMERICAN TEEN yet. Wasn’t at Sundance, and the LA Film Festival screening (which sounded amazing) timed out wrong because of some family issues. But I’m a big documentary freak in general, and I love how this look at modern high school students seems to be getting the sort of affectionate praise that is normally reserved for fiction.
Today, we’ve got a first look clip courtesy of the fine folks over at Paramount Vantage. Let’s check it out:

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I fell in love with AMERICAN TEEN at Sundance this year. Just like last year's fantastic documentary THE KING OF KONG, I've been singing this film's praises to everybody who will listen. It's one of those rare documentaries that is so involving that you forget you're watching a documentary.

Hey everyone, Capone in Chicago here.
First off, let me thank all of you who made Monday's IRON MAN screening such a fantastic event.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I love this movie. It was my favorite documentary at Sundance, which is saying a lot considering how many phenomenal docs played this year.
Paramount Vantage picked it up and they've cut a great trailer for the flick... How I love thee, Hannah Bailey... le sigh...

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
I’m not sure when the first weekend of the Philadelphia Film Festival was, but this guy was there, and these two mini-reviews are the result:
Dear Aint it Cool News,
I attended the first weekend of the Philadelphia Film festival. This thing was PACKED this year. 10-15 sell outs on the first weekend.

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
I’m really looking forward to this documentary based on all the early buzz I heard about it from Sundance this year.
And I love the poster that Film School Rejects posted:

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Sundance is winding down. We only have one more full day of press screenings then it’s back to begging for tickets for the public ones. A lot of press have gone home, most of the stars have gone home, but now’s when the real deal movie buffs come out.
TBAs are filling in, the awards will be announced soon and some of the more popular films are getting additional screenings.
