I’ve been looking forward to seeing THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL. I’m a fan of the these sorts of films and the cast… well who doesn’t love and adore Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson… I like Jim Sturgess – and Eric Bana can be great, but he’s an actor that needs solid direction to deliver.

This does not look like my cup of tea. But I’d like to be wrong. I find a mediocre period piece to be more painful than, say, a mediocre action film. There’s just something about the dress-up phoniness of one of these when they don’t work.
It’s encouraging to hear from Mastidon that this one is something special. I look forward to checking it out at the end of the month. For now, here’s Mastidon’s take on it:

See? Another person taunting me with festival talk. I like Bungion Boy. He’s a good New York spy for us... a guy who manages to get into all manner of film events, and who always offers up cogent reports on what he saw. He’s a guy with a real history here at the site.
This new review is a double-header, one press screening and one test screening. I’m interested in both films he saw, and I’m glad, as always, to get him weighing in...
