It’s been a very quick first quarter of the year for me. I can’t believe we’re almost four months in. When you’re expecting a child, everything becomes about getting to that due date, and the rest of the calendar is sort of irrelevant. But now that Allen’s been born, I’m able to refocus myself on what’s out, what’s been out, and what’s still coming soon, and what I realized is...
... I sort of fucked up the beginning of 2008, all things considered.
Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here. We here at AICN believe that there's no such things as too much coverage of people we find truly entertaining. In the last few months, Quint and I have been allowed to "double-team" interview some of our favorite filmmakers and actors, very often within a day or two of each other. Jason Schwartzman and Frank Darabont are a couple recent examples. Rather than swear off this practice, we try to coordinate.
Now we have my piece, which is infinitely better because I have audio and video… and I can say that because Capone is a thousand miles away, so I’m not within swinging distance. I kid. Capone’s interview was great and I hope mine melds with his without being too bumpy.
Comedy is a strange thing – it makes one man weep and another man scream. We all have favorite comedians and ones we hate. I prefer Chaplin to Keaton, I prefer Laurel & Hardy to Abbott & Costello … What makes you laugh… makes you laugh. And Will Ferrell makes me laugh. He’s 6’ 2” of adorable dorky gigglstuff… and as Jackie Moon – owner, promoter and power forward of the FLINT TROPICS – the ABA team on the cusp of the NBA or non-existence… he punches my comedy buttons.
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. If you don't know who the below is by the time you get to his chest, then you've never seen one of his movies. Boy does he like to show that chest hair off... I like his work and I like white-fros, so this is almost guaranteed to be my cup of tea. Enjoy the teaser (thanks to a heads up from Adam the Rettek)!
Comedies, more than any other genre, are test screened and test screened and test screened, and some producers know exactly how to make the most of that process.
Today, Ace Venturtle has one and a half reviews for you. The first is yet another Will Ferrell sports comedy, and the second is yet another Judd Apatow produced comedy. For some people, just knowing that means they won’t give these films a fair shake, but if you’re still interested (and I am), then read on:
Venturtle back. Today chiming in with my two cents on Will Farrell Sports Comedy Movie #4, SEMI-PRO.
