Hey folks, Harry here - the art that was on this page was never a production piece. It was never a design that the filmmakers developed - and wasn't even a REJECTED design. This was a work of art that was done out of pure ON HIS OWN status by a very talented artist... who has asked us to remove it and put up this disclaimer.

Last week, we got our first look at the trailer for this Christmas' remake of THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL [HERE].
The last shot in the trailer revealed a "Gort"-like robot zapping something with his laser eye.

Everyone has seen the stand alone, classic 1951 film, "The Day the Earth Stood Still" directed by Robert Wise starring Michael Rennie as "Klaatu". It was based on Harry Bates' "Farewell To the Master" and is science fiction at its best.
Now they're remaking it in Vancouver. Keanu Reeves is in the lead role as the visitor from another planet with a warning for Earth.
Why?
What was wrong with the original that merits a remake?
After I read the script, I threw it against the wall.

In a decidedly shrewd maneuver geared towards distracting male audience members from the mediocrity & unnecessaryness (I know that's not really a word) of THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL remake...as well as counterbalancing the lackluster casting of Keanu Reeves in a role meant to possess great pathos and gravity...Jennifer Connelly has been added into Scott Derrickson's upcoming film.

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
When I was in Prague recently, I was talking with producer Mark Johnson about the line-up in May of next year, something he’s obviously interested in since that’s when PRINCE CASPIAN is coming out. He asked what I knew about IRON MAN or INDY 4, and then he mentioned that some release schedules still had THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL listed as coming out that month, too. That didn’t seem right, though, since I hadn’t heard anything about them beginning production.
Well, today, things seem to be a little clearer with the news breaking that Keanu Reeves has signed on to star as Klaatu, the alien whose arrival on Earth triggers the film’s events. It’s a good choice, and I’m eager to see what director Scott Derrickson is going to do with the film.
