And the hits keep on coming. After staggering a bit in the quality department with Drillbit Taylor, the House of Judd Apatow produces another unqualified winner. FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL (which Apatow produced) is the story of Peter (Jason Segel, Seth Rogen's very tall friend in KNOCKED UP), a musician for a successful television cop show starring his girlfriend, actress Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell). The two have been a couple for many years, but one day she announces that she's leaving him.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I have seen a ton of movies over the last few days, but have been slacking on posting any reviews because… well, I’m just tired. I’ve been going almost non-stop since Sundance in January, so I’ve been getting a full night’s sleep for the last few days.
Now I’m back on the wagon and ready to play catch up. Bring it on!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I was very lucky to recently sit in a room with damn near the entire cast of FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL. We conducted this interview about an hour before their panel at WonderCon and I was quickly informed this was one of the first interviews done for the film, including a rather suggestive soundbite from the beautiful Kristen Bell. Le sigh…

On March 10th - at the SXSW Film Festival - a highly anticipated Judd Apatow produced comedy called FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL will be being screened.
What nobody knows - as of yet - is that there is a top secret by invitation only AICN / UNIVERSAL / SXSW pre-party for FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL. There will be 50 people at this party. A few AICN staff... the winners of this contest... and the stars and director of FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with my first ever report from WonderCon.
Today was a fun, full day. It started off with an early morning run to Emeryville that had me exploring the Pixar grounds and seeing the first 35 minutes of WALL-E… And… It was great, but I can’t say any more than that now. Hopefully the embargo will be lifted soon and I can spill my copious guts.

I talked to someone I trust, someone who would be in a position to know, and they were a little taken aback by their look at a very early cut of FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL. Not in a good way. But I know that the Apatow crew believes in testing the shit out of their films and really working on them, pounding them into shape using that process.

Comedies, more than any other genre, are test screened and test screened and test screened, and some producers know exactly how to make the most of that process.
Today, Ace Venturtle has one and a half reviews for you. The first is yet another Will Ferrell sports comedy, and the second is yet another Judd Apatow produced comedy. Let’s get the disclosure issue out of the way up front, okay? Universal paid for me to fly to Hawaii and offered me a room at the Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore, where I was asked to spend a week onset for the new film FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL. I paid to bring my wife and my boy along with me out of my own pocket, turning this business trip into a semi-vacation for the family.
If any of that rubs you the wrong way, consider yourself completely informed.
Having said that, this was a great week on all fronts and I am highly encouraged about what looks to be another winner from producers Judd Apatow and Shauna Robertson. They were so nice to me that I almost feel bad about what I’m going to do here. See, they’ve come up with this revolutionary secret theory for how to make great comedy movies, and I’m going to reveal that secret theory in this article. I know... that may be a betrayal of trust, giving up the thing that’s made them so rich and powerful... but I think it’s got to happen. It’s too groundbreaking to keep to myself.
