FX has ordered 26 more episodes of its acclaimed but low-rated Rose Byrne-Glenn Close legal drama “Damages,” to be spread out over its second and third seasons.
Close, Byrne and Tate Donovan are all signed for the second season of the highly serialized hourlong.

There were rumors floating around a few weeks ago that FX was giving serious thought to renewing its excellent high-continuity Rose Byrne/Glenn Close lawyer series “Damages” for a second season (despite anemic ratings), but I don’t recall ever seeing an official announcement.

I am – Hercules!!
The print edition of TV Guide says tonight MyNetworkTV offers a two-hour George Michael concert. It’s a lie.
My TiVo says what’s really on is the first two hours of “Damages,” which originally aired on cable’s FX over the last two Tuesdays.
Broadcast networks occasionally repurposing newish cable fare is nothing new, but “Damages” is at the moment vying with “John From Cincinnati” as my favorite new show of this summer, so I thought I’d alert readers to this semi-secret opportunity to catch the show from the beginning.

I am – Hercules!!
A legal thriller from writer-producers Todd & Glenn Kessler (“The Sopranos”) about a law-school grad who finds herself caught up in a new firm and a case that could get those closest to her killed, “Damages” might be the best series ever offered up by FX.
And as much as I love AMC’s “Mad Men,” “Damages” is also probably the best new show of the summer.
Probably. We’ve only seen the first two episodes, but they’re plenty propulsive, and full of the kind of confidence certain to carry many if not most through its first season’s 13 installments.
