I am – Hercules!!
I find “Flight of the Conchords” plenty funny! But not everybody does! How some talkbackers greeted the show when it hit HBO June 17:
“Fucking Awful! what a piece of shit!”
-- talkbacker “Gqtaste”
“Sounds awful. Just what the world needs, another too-black-to-be-genuinely-funny fish-out-of-water comedy.”
-- talkbacker “forgot_old_username”
“only made me giggle twice. Not all that funny. I smiled at a couple bits and laughed twice."
-- talkbacker “StovetopStuffin'”
“Would work better as a series of one-minute TV commercials for some prodcut nobody cares about. It's about that entertaining too. HBO, don't just cancel this show--never show any more episodes. Dead air would be preferable.”
-- talkbacker “Subversive01057”
Bad news for the haters: HBO liked “Conchords” well enough to give it a second season arriving next year.
HBO says of tonight’s finale:
Murray (Rhys Darby) foists a new bongo-playing band member (Todd Barry) on Bret (Bret McKenzie) and Jemaine (Jemaine Clement), triggering angry dances and mutant half-bands. Written by James Bobin & Jemaine Clement & Bret McKenzie; directed by James Bobin.
For those unaware, Todd Barry is a generally hilarious stand-up comic.
10:30 p.m. Sunday. HBO.

It’s an HBO sitcom about a pair of thirtysomething New Zealand musicians struggling to succeed in New York. One of those thirtysomething musicians is the star of the new movie “Eagle Vs. Shark.”
Variety says:
… seems like any of the cut-rate slacker comedies that overpopulate Comedy Central -- until they burst into song and madcap lunacy ensues. Hardly a great show, those eclectic musical numbers nevertheless yield some extremely clever moments …
