Hey folks, Harry here... I got to see a good deal of this film, which really had a solid sense of atmosphere and fun. Gil Kenan ( of MONSTER HOUSE fame) has really constructed a film that feels, oddly, like a family adventure set in the world of METROPOLIS run down. Really inspired visuals. Here's the trailer...

Hey folks, Harry here… I just got back from Skywalker Ranch… yeah, Skywalker Ranch. I’m writing up an entirely separate article that is about that journey and experience, but what I wanted to write up first, was the main purpose of that trip. To chat with Gil Kenan and get a first look at a movie that doesn’t have a lot of buzz going quite yet, but that I’ve been following called CITY OF EMBER.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. This is the first Walden Media project that's actually piqued my interest.
One, it's the next film from Gil Kenan who directed the awfully good MONSTER HOUSE. Two, so far they have Toby Jones (INFAMOUS and -upcoming- THE MIST) and Saoirse Ronan (ATONEMENT) in the cast. And three, Bill Murray has just joined up.
It sounds like this is going to be a live action movie, but I'm not 100% sure on that, so don't quote me. The original book is by Jeanne DuPrau and it's about an insular, dark place without any light whatsoever, barring the illumination that comes from the street lamps. One day the street lamps begin to dim, the power source failing. The movie is the adventure to find out why this is happening and what might exist outside of this world.
