Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. X-Files 2 is coming sooner than you think... at least sooner than I think. It's hard to believe we're seeing a new X-Files installment this summer. Crazy.
Anyway, here's a transcript by a reader who wanted to share with all of us. Thanks! Enjoy!
Hey, AICN folks. I stopped by this year's New York ComicCon and managed to take down a whole bunch of notes. Here's some X-Files II movie news from Friday's panel, if you'd like to use it.
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'm in the middle of packing for a trip to Prague, but this alert came in and I was called back to my post like a seaman in a bombarded submarine. Looky looky, it be the X-FILES 2 poster and it's pretty nifty. With this and the leaked the trailer, it looks like they're really playing up the iconography of Mulder, Scully and the X-Files.
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. So, technically this was the 20th Century Fox panel, but it might has well have been called the Fox and Scully hour. That’s what people wanted to see.
Poor Thai horror remake SHUTTER, all about spirit photography, was stuck before the big X-FILES 2 panel and even the hot Aussie from TRANSFORMERS and Hiro’s sidekick couldn't make much of a difference. You could feel the audience just politely waiting for that panel to end so the X-FILES panel would start.
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. This bit of weird news hit early early this morning. X-FILES 2 is happening after all the years of speculation. They've added Billy Connolly, Xzibit and Amanda Peet to the cast list (also remember there's a rumor of Lance Henriksen popping up as Frank Black as well).
Hollywood Reporter says the scuttlebutt is that Xzibit and Peet will be fellow FBI agents, alongside Mulder and Scully.
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. It appears that Lance Henrikson recently appeared at a UK convention and gave a really coy answer to a fan's question regarding a potential appearance in a certain sequel to a certain movie about a certain pair of FBI agents who investigate certain FILES... I love answers like the one Henrikson gave. They make it really fun to be a fan and start the speculation really churning!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Comingsoon.net is reporting that X-FILES 2 actually begins production in December after years of talk about a follow-up flick. I actually recently bought the first three seasons in some radically cheap sale at Best Buy ($20 a season) and will probably put them on in the next day or two as background while I go about my Halloweening.
David Duchovny was plugging his new sitcom, “Californication,” at Showtime’s Television Critics Association event here in Los Angeles, and offered a few hints on the status of a second “X-Files” movie:
* Duchovny says he’s supposed to get the script next week.
* Duchovny says the script is by Chris Carter (who created the series and wrote the last movie) and veteran series writer-producer Frank Spotnitz.
* Duchovny says Carter intends to make his big-screen directorial debut with the project.
It’s been a long time since there was anything noteworthy to report regarding the lovely Gillian Anderson. I harbored a shameless crush on her for much of the lifespan of X-FILES, but she’s fallen off my radar in recent years. It’s nice to see her show up in something cool like TRISTRAM SHANDY with Steve Coogan, but I’d love to see her as the lead in something great.
Or barring that, in a really cool X-FILES sequel.
Is that really happening? The rumors are certainly flying, and then today... well, check this out:
