Does The Blackmail Box get a new piece of blue packing tape this week? It’s one of the few questions "Capone" refuses to answer in his report on this week’s brand spanking new installment of “The Shield”!

I am – Hercules!!
A tough start for the final season of “The Shield”! Its 7th-season premiere pulled lower numbers than “Sons of Anarchy” last week and now our own “Capone” hints at a momentary dip in quality for episode two!
I remind readers that things get really exciting for Vic and what’s left of the Strike Team in about five weeks.

Nov. 25 will be the date “The Shield” concludes its 7-season run.
The 7th season premieres Sept. 2 with an episode titled “The Coefficient of Drag.”
Film critic Elvis Mitchell will be hosting a wrap-up special for the series, which is more than “The Sopranos” got.

Episode 6.8
Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago with this week's recap of this devastating season of "The Shield." This week begins a three-episode run of Franka Potente (RUN LOLA RUN; BLOW; THE BOURNE IDENTITY) in a major role as the daughter of the Armenian crime organization's U.S. leader. It only takes her two episodes to become a major threat to every cop on the Strike Team. But I'm saying too much too soon. Here is this week's episode, entitled "The Math of Wrath" (in some places I've seen this referred to as "The Man of Wrath," but I'm pretty sure "Math" is the correct title).
We meet Potente (I'm sorry, but I cannot figure out what her character's name is) as she is visiting her dying father in the hospital, followed by a quick prayer in a nearby church. Shane approaches her as he is tearing through the organization to find whoever is in charge. She presents herself as that person in her father's absence, pretending that he's out of town. The two work out a preliminary agreement to stay out of each other's way, while Shane agrees to throw a few warnings of impending police raids her way.
Sensing trouble between Vic and Shane, Claudette forces the two in a room together, and for her sake they agree to work better together. Yeah right. With Hernan still missing, the Strike Team arranges to passively search for him. It doesn't take long for Vic to find out that the Mexicans are aware there is a mole in the Salvadoran organization, who needs to be dealt with in order for the peace to be maintained between the gangs. Not long after that declaration, the body of a dead, hacked-up Salvadoran is dumped in an alley. The Strike Team fears it is Hernan, but it's not. Hernan eventually gets a message to Vic about a pending gun store robbery the Salvadorans are planning to stock up on weapons. Vic understands that he has to let the robbery happen to maintain Hernan's cover, but still keep the guns out of gang hands. Their plan to do this borders on brilliant.
Franka asks Shane to help with a crime spree in Armenian-owned apartment complexes, with a wad of cash as payment for his troubles. He discovers that a string of prostitution rings are being run out of the apartments, and each is being robbed by black guys with guns, and soon Shane is out to find out their identity. It's at about this time that Vic reveals to Ronnie that Shane has files on all their dirty dealings.
Aceveda has a meeting with an exploratory group looking into his mayoral candidacy, but his main backer won't give him all his promised funding until the San Marco murders have been solved. It doesn't take Aceveda long to show up at the Barn with the promise of as many resources as Claudette needs to solve the case.
Shane brings the identities of the apartment robbers to Franka and finds out that she is only pretending that her father is still her charge. The more we find out about her methods, the more scared we (and Shane) become. Soon after their meeting, the robbers' bodies are found castrated. When he confronts her with this, she gives him the name of the man willing to confess to another murder Shane has been investigating. He tries to explain to her that she's going about things the wrong way by living up to her father's example and bring undue attention to the Armenians.
Hyatt confesses to Vic that his so-called "review hearing" is a lie and that Claudette has been lying to him about the possibility that he won't have to retire. Shane and Ronnie finally speak. It's a brief conversation, but it's long enough for Shane to spill to Ronnie that Vic killed Terry Crowley, an incident that Vic kept Ronnie in the dark about.
Hernan sends one last message that he has flown to El Salvador. Vic suspects that Hernan fingered the now-dead Salvadoran as the snitch, and may have actually killed him and dumped the body to prove his loyalty.

AICN’s main man in the Midwest, “Capone,” said he wouldn’t review “The Shield” past 6.6. He lied to you, America!! He’s seen all the ‘sodes through the end of the season and will review all! Beware, as always, uninvisotexted spoilers!
Episode 6.7
Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago. Well, I resisted all temptations (many of which were dangled in front of me by the readership) to go and download or simply watch the remaining four episodes of "The Shield" Season 6. I've got a big-ass TV at home, and I want to watch my "Shield" episodes big and loud. And then, with just days to go before Episode 7 was set to air on FX (the first episode of this season I was not able to preview for you guys), I got a nice anonymous package with episodes 7-10 in the mail, and I watched all four in one marathon sitting. I cannot overemphasize that this season of "The Shield" absolutely blows your balls through the bottom of your seat with tension, drama, and some of the finest writing on television. If you don't agree with that statement, then get the hell out of my life! Oh, um, sorry sorry sorry, it's just that watching Vic Mackey and what remains of his team in action gets my blood boiling. And so, with as few spoilers as possible (but sometimes I can't resist), here's episode 6.7, entitled "Exiled."

Hey, guys. "Moriarty" here. Something to keep in mind as you watch tonight's episode.
It was directed by Frank Darabont. Yep. Mr. SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION. And this episode is the reason you're going to see the version of THE MIST that you'll see this fall. I hope you've read Quint's amazing set reports. One of the things he discussed at length is the way Frank's changed his visual style for this film. He's always been a guy who went to great lengths to control every bit of his frame, to compose his films in a very classical style.
And if you're a fan of THE SHIELD, you know that's not the visual style of this show. Not at all. And when Frank agreed to direct this, it completely changed him. He had to adapt, and I think it set something free in him. In TV, you have to keep things moving. When we shot our MASTERS episodes, they were incredibly fast schedules. Doing this directly led to him realizing how he could make a monster movie with a pulse, something that would energize King's story.
So check out tonight's episode with that in mind. Just a cool something extra, as if you weren't already planning to watch since this season is kicking such serious ass so far. Viva la Shane.
Now back to Herc and Capone's regularly scheduled article, already in progress...

AICN’s main man in the Midwest, “Capone,” loads up his take on “The Shield” 6.5. Beware uninvisotexted spoilers!
Episode 6.5 -- Haunts
Shane's badly battered and bruised body is wheeled into the emergency room. When Vic and Ronnie arrive, Shane insists it was a random jumping by some street kids, but Vic is determined to find out what happened.
Meanwhile the team finds out the dead illegals were all recently released from a Mexican prison and were probably killed as revenge for the disappearance of the Salvadoran leader. Hyatt decides to use his INS connections (he's a former border guard) to get information on the Mexicans' deaths, and finds out all sorts of useful information about the killings and Lem's death.

AICN’s main man in the Midwest, “Capone,” loads up his take on “The Shield” 6.3.
Beware non-invisotexted spoilers!
Episode 6.3 -- Back To One
The strike team is in the clear for the first time in a long time, but Vic has yet to return to work after Lem's death.
The Salvadoran takes the bait, and after one failed attempt to meet and kill him, they eventually do capture him and take him to a remote location in the desert.
Vic tortures the guy relentless (these scenes are far worse than anything "24" has given us to date) to get him to confess he had a hand in Lem's death. With Shane looking on feeling guilty as hell for what is happening, he eventually begs Vic not to kill the guy since they don't have any definitive proof of his guilt.
