When last year's TMNT film ended up being reasonably swell received, speculation about a sequel immediately began. Indications said that chances of a new TMNT movie were "50/50" at that time.

Y’know, I don’t buy into the idea that a film is only good or enjoyable if you’re already sold on a property. I’m perfectly indifferent to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as an overall property. I read the black-and-white original run of the comics (thanks to the insistence of my buddy Bill Rosemann, the biggest comics nerd I knew), and I enjoyed them as a goof on the world of Marvel, and DAREDEVIL and the various X books in particular. But I thought the live-action films were sort of disastrously weird. Yes, even the first one. And I had no interest at all in the animated series. Walking into the new feature film opening this weekend, I just wanted to see a film that was entertaining on its own, one that worked (or didn’t) no matter what my feelings were about the series overall.

Merrick here...
…with a brief (and admittedly frivolous) aside. A tip of the hat, if you will, to a movie that’s opening tomorrow.
As you’re no doubt aware, TMNT (TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES) arrives Friday. You’ve likely seen this promotional artwork making the rounds on the Nets and in theaters:

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
I think you’re going to hear from a lot of satisfied people here in the next few days, and I think even the talkbackers will be generally pleased by the movie. The only ones who won’t are people who want something dark and “hardcore” from a TURTLES adventure. This ain’t it.
It’s a lot of fun, though, and I wish I could have taken Toshi to this event. I think he would have had a blast. Congrats to all you lucky bastards who did go:
Hi Harry,
Thanks for letting me and the old lady join up for all you can eat pizza and Turtles. How do we keep these chicks again?

Hey folks, Harry here... This list is the complete list - with seats for the folks that throw SXSW, the Alamo Crew and the AICN crew... However - this auditorium is a smaller one, but we're going to have very big fun on hand. I've been talking to Warners about having a special treat for everyone in attendance. BTW - I would recommend getting to the ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE on SOUTH LAMAR - no later than about 9:15. Though the screening will begin at 10pm, I imagine seating will begin at 9:30pm - with a pre-show - pizza stuffing, etc.
That said - this is only 101 seats and there's a bit of wiggle room... about 14 additional seats. I'm holding those - in case we end up with some special attendees, etc... BUT they may become available the day of - and 15 minutes before showtime (aka 9:45pm) - we'll be filling with Standby. NOTE: We won't have a lot of standby room, but there could very well be wiggle room for a few. So if you're a turtle nut and you haven't cracked... this might be the hole you can plug, what the shell, give it a shot.

Hey folks, Harry here - and I'm ready to fucking rock it next Thursday night at the Alamo Drafthouse South!
I love TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES. I love it like you wouldn't believe. One of the coolest moments of my pre-AICN life was at the Dallas Comic Con - when Kevin Eastman came up and bought an Original John Severin CRACKED Summer Movie Cover Art and talked with me for about 45 minutes about his influences and loves that led him to help bring the Turtles to life with Peter Laird.
I'm one of those oversized badass black & white turtle geeks. I read those earliest stories to my sister - long before the animated series and the live action series from New Line. I know the Ninja Rap and I could always ask for more.
