Harry says, 'This Ain't HAPPENING'

Wow. I'm M Night's undying supporter and fan. When the script for THE HAPPENING leaked everywhere - the online world hated it, but I read it and dreamt of the best version of the tale. A movie about the environment shrugging off the nasty parasites known as man. Nature conspiring to reduce our numbers to such a degree that we no longer posed a threat.

Capone loooooovvveeessss M. Night's THE HAPPENING!

Hey folks. Capone in Chicago here with a stern warning for every one of you. If you buy a ticket to this film, the ass kicking you receive both during and after the movie will be your own damn fault and will probably be self-delivered.

M. Night’s HAPPENING Tonight, And You Guys Are Weighing In!

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.

Not sure if they’re screening this for the Austin crew or not, but I’m going to pay to see it at the midnight show in Woodland Hills so I can review it tomorrow night.

Fox has been screening it a bit, though, and several of you have sent us reviews now, so it’s time to do a round-up of several of the best for you, with reactions all over the map.

Here’s Latauro with his take on things to kick us off:

Someone’s Seen Shyamalan’s HAPPENING!

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.

And that someone evidently reads Collider.com:

Not sure if anyone wants to read this or even if you care….but someone I know sent me a review of M. Night’s new movie The Happening.

Let’s just say he didn’t like it. At all.

M Night's THE HAPPENING Teaser!!!

Hey folks, Harry here... When the script for THE HAPPENING leaked out to various web folks - I was one of the few it seemed that loved the script. I think it's a brutal, frightening and haunting script filled with suspense in the best of ways. A film that makes you afraid of a change in the wind. Generating fear in the details you take for granted is the source for the best fear flicks. What's in the shadows, the dark, the water, the woods, the sky, each other... and now what's in the wind, the air... etc.

Wanna see what's HAPPENING?

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. The poster for M. Night Shyamalan's next flick THE HAPPENING starring Mark Wahlberg has hit the net and ComingSoon got the exclusive.

CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE POSTER!

I like it... I miss teaser posters... we don't get them nearly enough and this one is very simple, yet sets the mood really well. Good work so far, yeah?

A little something-something is HAPPENING between M. Night and John Leguizamo!!!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Now, the trades don't go into much detail on the role John Leguizamo will be playing in M. Night Shyamalan's THE HAPPENING... and I am utterly useless as well. I know many people who have read the script, but I am not one of them.

But I can relay the information to you good people that Leguizamo joins Mark Wahlberg as his character's best friend. I'm no Shyamalan hater, but I have felt his last couple lacking (especially THE VILLAGE, which still feels like someone trying to make a Shyamalan movie and not Shyamalan making a Shyamalan movie...

It's HAPPENING for Mark Wahlberg!!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here, newly awoken from my no sleep early morning drive back to Austin from Louisiana. I'll be finishing up my final set report from THE MIST, but I must first update the site.

I'm going to start with a few trade stories that hit yesterday, but didn't make it up on the site. First is the little tidbit that Mark Wahlberg has signed on to star in M. Night Shyamalan's THE HAPPENING, the apocalyptic flick about a man fleeing from a "cataclysmic natural crises" with his family.

Fox lands M Night's THE HAPPENING - it's a helluva script!

Hey folks, Harry here... Well Tom Rothman did the right thing here - There's a pretty strong anti-M Night movement out there in the world right now. Personally - I'm 100% on the other side of the tracks. I love the work that M Night has done - and I completely understand why the films that so many seem to vocally dislike - play that way towards them - I just don't share that opinion.

With THE HAPPENING, I predict if Fox stays out of M Night's way, that this will be seen as M Night's 'comeback'. Right now, I'm 40 pages into reading the 106 page draft of M Night's THE HAPPENING, which on this draft was known as THE GREEN EFFECT. THE HAPPENING is a much stronger title in my opinion... For one, THE HAPPENING is a phrase that feels and oozes 1960s. And what M Night has constructed thus far in this script is a very 1960's End of the World scenario. If you've ever seen NO BLADE OF GRASS - combine that to the premise of something like Stephen King's THE CELL - and you're heading in the direction that this movie goes in.
