AICN EXCLUSIVE!!
NBC To Air The Last Completed JOURNEYMAN Episode After All!!
I am – Hercules!!

This just in from “Journeyman” mastermind Kevin Falls:

Journeyman Fans--

NBC has decided to air the 12th episode ("Perfidia") on Wednesday, December 19th at ten o'clock. That means our 10th episode will air on Monday the 10th ("Home by Another Way"), the 11th will air on 17th ("The Hanged Man").

The decision to air the 12th episode had a lot to do with the passion of our fans through SaveJourneyman.net, the online petition and letters and emails to NBC executives.

Some interesting nuggets from a new If Magazine interview with “Journeyman” mastermind Kevin Falls:

* Since Livia was able to travel to 2007, it looks like she might be alive as an old woman somewhere.

* Young Livia will find herself jumping in lingerie in episode 11.

* A number of people Dan has saved will play into the season finale (if there is a season finale).

Watch Tonight!! JOURNEYMAN Teeters On The NBC Abyss!!
I am – Hercules!!

A source deep inside NBC Universal says the network has stopped promoting what I regard as one of fall’s best new shows, “Journeyman,” and will cancel it unless the two-parter airing tonight and next Monday brings big numbers.

The source, a big proponent of the show, describes the two-parter as “super-dark and twisted.”

The show has five new episodes to air, including tonight’s. Whether NBC actually airs them is in question.

Herc’s Seen
JOURNEYMAN 1.2!!
I am – Hercules!!

TV Guide says:

Dan gets an MRI after doubting his time trips, but then he vanishes from a flight with Katie and finds himself in charge of delivering a baby.

Recall that the Moon Bloodgood character supposedly died in a plane crash!

What TV Guide is not telling you:

Those who believe Gretchen Egolf un-superhot are blind or super-extra insane. The music of KC and the Sunshine Band ("Get Down Tonight"), the Psychedelic Furs ("Love My Way") and Smashing Pumpkins ("Today") is featured, as if this were the best episode of "Cold Case" ever. Also? (Invisotext on!) We learn that time-hopping inexplicably causes certain types of fruit to explode. We learn that Vasser’s “dead” ex appears to be almost as clueless as Vasser with regard to what’s going on with the time-hopping. Also, Vasser can now anticipate his time-hops well enough to put a car in park when he needs to.

Like I said last week, I'm on board at least until episode three!

“Chuck”: 8 p.m. Monday. NBC.
“Heroes”: 9 p.m. Monday. NBC.
“Journeyman”: 10 p.m. Monday. NBC.

What Says Hercules of NBC's JOURNEYMAN, HEROES' New Sci-Fi Companion Series??
I am – Hercules!!

I say this for “Journeyman”: I like it a whole lot better than Moon Bloodgood’s last time-hopping extravaganza, ABC’s short-lived “Lost” substitute “Day Break.”

A sci-fi tale from Emmy-winning writer-producer Kevin Falls (“Sports Night,” “The West Wing”), it’s about a San Francisco newspaper reporter, Dan Vasser (the great “Rome” lead Kevin McKidd, perhaps the last modern Brit actor who still struggles with an American accent), who finds himself unexpectedly and involuntarily transported back to earlier eras in time for reasons he (like the viewing audience) does not entirely understand.

One of the cooler things about “Journeyman” is its protagonist is at one point in the pilot plucked from his proper “now” while he’s driving a car, which results in all manner of present-day vehicular mayhem. So Vasser can’t really drive cars anymore. On the upside, Vasser does gets to take with him any of our 2007 gadgets he’s carrying when he’s shot into the past.

The Bloodgood character is one of the series’ most interesting elements. She’s a regular even though she’s been dead for years.

A fun element is how Vasser copes with his predicament, stealing antiquated cell-phone chargers from his younger self and trying (Kirk-like) to explain to 1990s cabdrivers why the picture of Andrew Jackson is so big and colorful on his $20 bills.

Less interesting, at least for the moment, are the personal problems of guest-characters Vasser appears to have been dispatched to fix in the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s. Are these episode-specific characters cogs in a greater machine we’ll get a better look at later? Are people from the future making Vasser straighten these smallish kinks in the timeline, a la “The 4400”? Has God Himself unstuck Vasser in time? If so, His motivations are not altogether apparent.

Also straining credulity is the fact that Vasser manages to keep his newspaper job despite all his bizarre extended and poorly explained absences.

Does the series have good answers for the many intriguing questions it poses? Will NBC keeps it around long enough to provide any? The first two episodes, at least, leave me determined enough to see what might be revealed in episode three.

Entertainment Weekly gives it a “B” and says:

Can’t Wait 11 Lousy Days??
You Can Watch NBC’s Four
New Fall Hourlongs NOW!!
I am – Hercules!!

The official premieres of NBC’s four new fall dramas are still at least 11 days away, but the network is determined you see them early.

We’ve known for a while that Blockbuster has been renting the pilots of “Bionic Woman,” “Chuck,” “Journeyman” and “Life” to its customers.

I got an email late Wednesday telling me that cable systems carrying something called HD Showcase On Demand are also making the pilots available. (I get On Demand and HD via Time Warner here in Studio City, Calif., but my customer care rep just assured me that I don’t get HD On Demand in my area for at least another seven months.)

Finally, those who crave instant gratification (but don’t want to risk NBC Universal and the MPAA suing them - or their parents – for hundreds of thousands of dollars over bittorrent copyright infringement), can currently also rent the pilots via Unbox, which apparently works with both computers and TiVo. Click on the photos to watch. All are FREE!

I recommend starting with “Chuck,” which is a sci-fi comedy actioner created by “O.C.” mastermind Josh Schwartz. It co-stars “Full Metal Jacket”/”Firefly” vet Adam Baldwin as an angry government goon.

For those content to wait, the NBC premiere dates:

Chuck: Sept. 24
Journeyman: Sept. 24
Bionic Woman: Sept. 26
Life: Sept. 26

SUPERMAN: DOOMSDAY

NBC Buys More Science Fiction: JOURNEYMAN & BIONIC!! Plus Josh Schwartz’ CHUCK!! Plus FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS 2.X!!

I am – Hercules!!

It looks like the success of "Heroes" has emboldened NBC to stick with the strange. (Bet they're glad they didn't give up after "Surface" tanked!)

The network doesn’t announce its fall slate till Monday, but Mike Ausiello at TV Guide already has some of its key components:

* “The Bionic Woman,” a scifi drama about a cyborg babe, from writer-producer David Eick (“Battlestar Galactica”) and writer Laeta Kalogridis (“Alexender,” “Battle Angel”).

* “Journeyman,” a scifi drama about a dude who keeps traveling back through time to fix stuff, from writer Kevin Falls (“The West Wing,” “North Shore”).
