Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a little chat I had with Ryan Reynolds and John August when they came through Austin to promote their film THE NINES, the directorial debut for August.
I had a lot of fun with the chat and I hope you guys dig it. We dig a little bit into Reynold’s next movie ADVENTURELAND, directed by SUPERBAD’s Greg Motolla.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a short review of John August's directorial debut THE NINES from a recent Alamo Drafthouse screening with both August and the film's star, Ryan Reynolds, in attendance. I saw the premiere of this one at Sundance and I really dug it, but it's one of the most divisive movies I've seen this year. I know people who flat out hate this movie.
I got a chance to talk to both Reynolds and August while they were in town, so look for that interview to hit sometime this week! Here's Casper Von Sidecar with his opinion! Enjoy!

Greetings AICN, MiraJeff here with a look at John August's directorial debut, The Nines.
It's funny, I was conversing with Shoot 'Em Up producer Don Murphy on Anne Thompson's blog a while back and the question arose - should a critic be allowed to
review a film if he/she doesn't "get" it. I believe the answer is yes, and that the lack of understanding belongs in the review because if a critic, who has a fair amount of cinematic intelligence, doesn't understand the picture, then it's not only possible, but probable that the average viewer won't "get" the film either. Which leads us back to The Nines, a movie that only God Himself could make heads or tails of. Literally.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I saw John August's THE NINES at Sundance this year (click here to read my review!). If the reception of the film at Sundance is any indication, this flick will divide people. I liked it quite a lot, whereas Rav hated it.
It's a bizarre flick, I can see how it causes that divide. It's a film that is essentially three different stories that are joined in a really interesting way. Each story stars the same three actors: Ryan Reynolds, Hope Davis and Melissa McCarthy, playing different characters... or are they?

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with another pair of reviews, one from a radically messed up movie that I thought was going to be a flat out comedy and the other of a quirky, oddball comedy.
THE NINES
The plot description I read said the film was broken into three parts, with the same three actors being the constant in each story. It sounded like they were going to experiment with different genres and play around with preconceived notions of the actors involved, giving them each something different to do within the span of a single film.
