Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here.
It’s been a very quick first quarter of the year for me. I can’t believe we’re almost four months in. When you’re expecting a child, everything becomes about getting to that due date, and the rest of the calendar is sort of irrelevant. But now that Allen’s been born, I’m able to refocus myself on what’s out, what’s been out, and what’s still coming soon, and what I realized is...
... I sort of fucked up the beginning of 2008, all things considered.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. THE SIGNAL, a small horror flick I love, came out over the weekend. It's not doing all that well and I wondered why... now I think I know...
The film is about a mysterious signal that goes out over all televisions. This signal drives anybody who sees it crazy... but in odd ways. What's good about the movie is that these people go insane in their own head, but they retain themselves a bit. It's not like they turn into zombies like in Stephen King's CELL or something like that.

Sounds like Fabfunk’s been busy.
Get a snack. This is a long one.

Hey folks, Harry here... As the year is beginning to wrap up and we here at AICN are pulling together our lists, a film that I'm considering seriously putting high in my top ten of 2007 is THE SIGNAL. This is an incredibly intimate, yet grand film about what it's like to go through the end of civilization... as we know it. THE SIGNAL isn't strictly the most original of films - it shares motifs with Matheson, Romero, King and others... but ya know... I'd argue that cinematically... dramatically...

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
Right now, I’m excited about any horror film that isn’t a remake or a sequel. They may not all end up being good, but I plan to reward each and every original horror film with my purchase of a ticket, even if I see it at a press screening first. I am losing my patience with the people who are killing one of my favorite genres, and the release of a film like THE SIGNAL pleases me enormously.
Hiya Moriarty!
I got a chance to see a screening of THE SIGNAL this past weekend at Dragon*con in Atlanta, and thought I'd drop a mini-review in your inbox to add to the positive buzz floating around the movie on your site. I'm going to focus on a few different things since the plot has been hashed and rehashed on here before.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I loved this movie when I saw it at Sundance earlier this year and it held up for a second viewing at SXSW. You may have noticed Harry posted the new trailer for the flick a few days ago and didn't care for it too much.
I see where the studio is going here. Make something flashy and crazy and mysterious to draw in the people, but I think they instead made something that is just turning people off. I know I wouldn't be very interested in seeing it based off that new trailer, but the below trailer I love.

Hey folks, Harry here... Earlier this year, THE SIGNAL was unleashed... first at Sundance... then later at SXSW... Those that saw THE SIGNAL... folks like Quint and myself went dogshit crazy over the film.
The teaser trailer that is up at Apple in Glorious Quicktime is bizarre... might make some of you swallow your tongue and froth at the mouth. It is not immediately indicative of the film you would see if the signal caught you and took you to see it. This is a horror film in the vein of Seventies horror. It's lean and mean, socially aware and daring as hell. Directed by 3 directors that went crazy in Atlanta with a crew of friends - and finally put together a film that could not be ignored. THE SIGNAL is powerful. It is an unforgettable journey into madness, love and the dream of sanity. It is one of the very best films I've seen thus far this year.

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
I reeeeeeeeeeeeeally want to see this one. Soon.
Hey Harry and Mori,
I've sent a few scoops in the past but never a review before.
I was invited to a secret screening at the Atlanta Film Festival on Friday night and decided check it out with a friend of mine. The film turned out to be THE SIGNAL which is no surprise since it was produced in Atlanta by Atlanta filmmakers. I had read a lot about the film including all of the reviews on AICN and a few other sites. I was excited. Let me start out by saying that I am a tried and true zombie fan and after all I had read about this little film was genuinely excited that I would be seeing THE SIGNAL. My heart was beating faster and I just knew that something special was in store for me. Well... I was wrong. THE SIGNAL was almost good, maybe even almost great.

Hey folks, Harry here - You saw Rav and Quint rave about THE SIGNAL from their Sundance reporting - we know that Magnolia Pictures picked the film up... as they did with the brilliant THE HOST and the very fun SEVERANCE. Seems Magnolia is doing a good job of picking up really good indie genre projects for us that loves them. I love this trailer - which along with ACROSS THE UNIVERSE - gives me a reason to be very optimistic about my cinematic future entertainments, what say ye?

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Apparently, a couple hours after the premiere last night, right around the time I posted my review, Magnolia inked a deal to distribute THE SIGNAL in North America and the UK. They haven't figured out just when yet, but they have it.
Congrats to them. The movie is great, everybody I've talked to that has seen it flipped for it. You can click here to read my review or click here to read Rav's review!

Hey folks, Harry here - Every once in a while there's a horror film at Sundance that's just fucking awesome. Now, it's true - I haven't seen THE SIGNAL, but I'll tell you this. Rav is a bitch to satisfy in this genre. However, when he loves a horror film, it's a doozy. I guarantee if he says this horror film is what he says it is, it is. And folks, if it's as good as this... it's a great one.
Okay right now its about three in the morning, Im supposed to get up to be at a screening at seven in the morning. So ordinarily Id be asleep right now, but I have just found myself unexpectedly blown away by a little horror film at Sundance that I wasnt really expecting much from. That film is:
