On Wednesday night’s “Late Show With David Letterman,” America learns “The Top Ten Reasons To Watch The New Season of Battlestar Galactica.” In keeping with the theme, 10 oddly attired extraterrestrials were chosen to recite the list. A screencap of the reading, shot Monday:

David Letterman on Wednesday will return to hosting duties with his writing staff intact, according to The Associated Press. Craig Ferguson’s “Late Late Show” appears to be in the same boat.
Letterman and Ferguson’s shows, both produced by Letterman’s Worldwide Pants company, are now expected to be the only two talkshows to return with their writing staffs Jan. 2.

It looks like David Letterman’s Worldwide Pants could be the first to break away from the AMPTP to strike a deal with the writers’ guild that could put CBS’ “The Late Show” and “The Late Late Show” back in production.

Bill Murray and David Letterman appear together with surprising infrequency. Since Letterman’s show debuted on CBS 13 years ago, Murray has guested only five times, most recently in 2004.
Having said this, we are obliged to point out that Murray does appear in some of the most important installments, notably the first episode of NBC’s “Late Night With David Letterman” in 1982 and the first episode of CBS’ “The Late Show With David Letterman” in 1993.
From a CBS press release:
On Feb. 1, 1982, David Letterman hit the stage of "Late Night with David Letterman" and that night, single-handedly changed the face of late night television forever. Now, 25 years later, Letterman continues to set the standard in late night. With 4,506 broadcasts, 14,772 guest appearances, 14 Emmy Awards and 89 Emmy nominations to his credit, Letterman and his late night programs, "Late Night with David Letterman" and the LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN, are ranked among the best and most innovative television programs in the history of broadcasting. Other than the late Johnny Carson, who hosted "The Tonight Show" for 30 years, no other late night host comes near Letterman in longevity, critical praise and award recognition.
