Merrick here...
130 Ninjas sent in a review of the forthcoming GET SMART movie (how many Ninjas does it take to type a review?)
I've been anticipating this film since seeing its most recent trailer (HERE) - which I really liked.

Merrick here...
We've received many mixed signals about this film.
At one point, the script sucked really, really badly & the whole thing smelled like a disaster. But, most folks who wrote to us after attending early test screenings have indicated the movie doesn't suck at all.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here from WonderCon... Below you'll find appearances by Steve Carell, Peter Segal, Anne Hathaway, Camilla Belle and Roland Emmerich... info on GET SMART, 10,000 BC, STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS as well as upcoming movies SHAZAM! and Emmerich confronted on 2012! Enjoy!
10,000 BC

Roland Emmerich took the stage and greeted the crowd, then showed a new trailer. It was a lot like the first trailer, but you get more of the story.

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
I’ve been watching GET SMART episodes while laid up sick this week. I’ve got this box set here of every single episode, and as I watch, I realize how little I actually watched of the show when I was young. I remember the credits, and I think it was a show that came on before something I liked, so I only ever saw the ending every day. If I saw more, it was because I was bored and waiting, not because I was a fan.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I recently had the opportunity to drop by the editing bay of GET SMART on the Warner Bros lot. I had interviewed director Peter Segal at Comic-Con and at that point he said he’d have us by the editing room. Well, a lot of people say that kind of thing, but it either slips their mind or logistically doesn’t work out.
For whatever reason, Segal remembered the offer and asked me to stop in to show me some footage from the film.

Hey folks, Harry here - I like Steve Carrell - I'm not sure if I'm going to like this though. I was quite fond of the original GET SMART - but it wasn't like rocket science. It wasn't amazing. It was a goofy show that I loved to death as a kid and haven't really re-visited since. But this trailer is much better than the teaser - and has me thinking it might at least be fun. What do y'all think?

Our man Derek Flint is back with a rather well-done review of GET SMART - a film I've been looking forward to, and about which we've been hearing GENERALLY GOOD THINGS.

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
This spy is not a plant.
It’s not often that I can say it with this degree of certainty, but I’m absolutely positive that this guy is not a plant for Warner Bros. He doesn’t work in the film industry at all, actually. He just got out of school and went to work in another field altogether. I’ve known this guy for at least six years. He just happened to go to this screening and sent me a review that is so simple and clean and well-expressed that I’m sure you’ll accuse him of being a plant.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a short interview I had with Peter Segal at Comic-Con about his adaptation of the classic TV show, GET SMART!
My track record with Segal’s movies is pretty good. I’m a sucker for Drew Barrymore and I fully admit to loving 50 FIRST DATES. On the surface I should have hated it… big budget star vehicle romantic comedy, but I’m too much of a softie.
I also surprisingly liked ANGER MANAGEMENT, I unabashedly love TOMMY BOY and remember enjoying the Jack Lemmon/James Garner team-up MY FELLOW AMERICANS, but admittedly I haven’t seen that one since it came out.

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
I love this news. And I’m hoping they take full advantage of this cameo and really make it count for something.
Derek Flint has a long history with the site of breaking news that people don’t want broken, so I trust him as a source, and I think you can take this one to the bank:
Agent 13, who hides in mailboxes and trash cans in the TV series GET SMART, is played in the movie by Bill Murray.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here.
Okay, so I took off a little early from the Con in order to catch up on some writing and clean up some interviews for you folks tonight. I also have a long interview butt-ass early in the morning and I only got 3 1/2 hours of sleep last night, so I'm going to crash like a drunk on the autobaun.
So, I love the WB people. They're great and have tons of good properties right now, but the panel didn't have any umph to it this year. Most of the stuff screened as "world premiere" or "exclusive" were just trailers we've seen online for a week or a month. Like 10,000 BC.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Now, I've heard the script for this isn't all that great, but despite that I'm getting a good feeling about this movie. Steve Carell as Maxwell Smart just works for me.
Now the trailer's out and it's pretty funny in a slick, studio way. Plus General Zod and the fat dude from BORAT is in it, so bonus points for that. Enjoy!

Hey folks, Harry here... there's been some rumbles of some sort of fuck over going on between Warner Bros and GET SMART creative geniuses Buck Henry and Mel Brooks. Something about them being furious at how little they were being offered, etc etc etc...
BUT - Today - ink went to paper and cash went to banks - and Mel Brooks and Buck Henry have been officially signed on as creative consultants on the GET SMART movie with Steve Carrell and Anne Hathaway. In fact - Carrell has already shot one joke scene that Mel Brooks wrote for his character in this film. With more to come, apparently from both Mel and Buck.

Merrick here...
USA Today has some tidbits about the GET SMART movie currently in production (Starring Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway in roles originated by Don Adams and Barbara Feldon – who I had a huge crush on back in the day), The Rock, Alan Arkin, and Terrence Stamp. Damn cool cast, there.
This from director Peter Segal (THE NAKED GUN 33 1/3, ANGER MANAGEMENT, and the upcoming SHAZAM!):
"We try to show the disconnect between government agencies as we saw right after 9/11 when the CIA and FBI weren't really communicating," Segal says. "We wanted to make sure we were politically satirical."

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. So, how does the GET SMART movie become one of my most anticipated movies in production? I'll tell you how: the cast.
We know Steve Carell as Maxwell Smart, we know Anne Hathaway as 99, we know The Rock is another agent and Terrence Stamp is also in the movie.
Now Alan Arkin has been cast as The Chief. How damn cool is that?
They have so much talent in front of the camera, now lets hope the

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I've been behind this movie since I heard Steve Carell was stepping into Don Adams' radio shoes. Great bit of casting. Then Anne Hathaway joined as Agent 99. Another good piece of casting.
Now two more people have come on board. I like The Rock and it's cool that he's going to be another agent (newly created Agent 23). I think The Rock's appearances on SNL and his work, like RUNDOWN, show the man can handle comedy. Seeing him work off of Carell sounds great to me.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I had a mad crush on Barbara Feldon as Agent 99. I grew up watching GET SMART on Nick At Nite and have many fond memories of the show. I'm really curious to see what Steve Carell has in store in the film version. If anyone can fill Don Adams' telephone-equiped shoes, it'd be him.
And now they've made a casting decision that sits pretty well with me. The new 99 is Ann Hathaway. She's cute and hopefully she'll have the spunk that made Feldon's 99 so adorable.
